THE JACK KING CLASS

We are a group seeking to grow our faith in order to be more effective witnesses for Jesus Christ.  We read a variety of contemporary Christian writers, including Maxie Dunnam, William H. Willimon, Adam Hamilton, J. Ellsworth Kalas, and James W. Moore.  Our selections are read in class and include scripture with questions for personal reflection and spiritual growth.  We share group joys and concerns each Sunday and support each other through prayer and friendship.  We meet in Fellowship Hall, Sunday mornings at 9:00 am.

The Seekers

The Seekers is a small group of mature Christians who continue to seek God’s message in today’s environment. We alternate Bible study with more contemporary study options.  Books are selected which address issues that are timely, may be controversial, and relate to scripture, our local or national situation, and the United Methodist Church.

Advance preparation is not required to attend the Seekers.  Some of us see the world slightly differently than others, so discussions can be lively, entertaining and always enlightening.

Book by book

This new class began in 2025 with Ephesians, then Colossians, and continues with Paul's letters as they go through the Bible book by book.  This small group reads a section of the book in many translations and versions of the Bible during the hour-long session beginning at 9 am on Sundays.  Using various resources and life experiences, members of the group ask questions, share knowledge, and discuss the relevance of this ancient text to our modern lives.  All are welcome to join this casual atmosphere in the church library while sitting on the most comfortable chairs in the church.

Join for one book or more than one!  We welcome you!

The Space Class

SPACE is a group of 30 to 50-somethings in age (give or take) interested in learning and discussion about God, life and the Universe.

Why SPACE? Because we want to make space in our hearts for God. We want to make space in our lives to show others God’s love. We want to make space to discuss the problems and questions we have. Also, Space is really cool.

We meet Sunday at 9 a.m. next to the second-floor elevator.

Seasonal
Small Groups

Throughout the year, we will offer different small groups in limited time frames (often 4-6 weeks).  These might be based on the season (like a Summer study), or on the liturgical calendar. During Lent or Advent we often offer church-wide book studies.

When and where these classes meet will change due to the scheduling of the leader and the season, so watch for further info on these opportunities as they arise.
